One-time purchase: Strategy, Pricing, and Packaging

One-time purchases are the best way to start selling on Playbook (especially if you’re new to digital sales!) — they are easier to get up and running, and they help you gauge your audience’s interest. Let’s walk through strategy, pricing, and how to package your paid program together.

Strategy

Think of a one-time purchase like a movie or hit song — they do amazing for a period of time and then taper off and gradually decline over time. That’s where discounts come in! Assume you launch with a paid program and then sell it at a discount a few months later. You can repeat this cycle over and over with new programs.

Step one is to come up with a program to sell. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Have you sold anything in the past? How did that go?

  • What do your followers and consumers regularly ask to see from you?

  • What is the demographic of your audience?

  • Do you want to have a nutrition component?

  • What type of time commitment do you want from your users?

Pricing

There are many ways to price your program. If you haven't sold anything before, we recommend starting lower to test the market and adjusting upward as you gather data.

To set your price:

  1. Go to Content → Programs in your Creator Dashboard.

  2. Find your OTP program and click + Add to Offer.

  3. Select an existing Offer or create a new one.

  4. Inside the Offer, set your price. This is where your OTP price lives.

Packaging

When packaging your content, value stack to increase price perception. This means showing people how much value they get for one low price. In addition to your workout program, you can offer things like:

  • Grocery lists, meal plan, supplement guide, habit tracker, etc.

  • Access to a weekly Zoom call you’ll host

Your one-time purchase doesn’t have to be just fitness

You can offer whatever info and resources in a one-time purchase, you think you have decent info on, and what your customer is interested in. Think outside of fitness for some (or all) programs if you have to.

Example: Social Media Course ($100)

  • Learn about the creator’s background and business

  • How to create a business mindset

  • How to define your audience

  • How to monetize your audience

  • Leveraging and expanding your business

  • Social media growth workbook

A one-time purchase doesn’t have to be video-based

You are able to create PDF guides (solely) and upload them for your one-time purchase.

Example: Meal Guide Offer ($30)

  • 4 PDF recipe guides

  • Video overview >> what’s in the guides, how to use them

Get creative with your one-time purchases to maximize your income:

  • Nutrition (recipes, meal-planning, intro to macros, detox, reset, etc.)

  • Pre & post-natal

  • Mindset & psychology

  • Collaboration program with another creator

  • Specific sport program (football, basketball, soccer)

  • A program that helped you transform from A to B

  • Morning routine

  • Business organization and strategy

  • Educational courses: “How to build a social audience”, “Mindset training”, “Business coaching”, and more

Community Access

One-time purchases can include access to the creator's community. When building your Offer, you can choose to bundle community access alongside your program to increase value. You can also cultivate engagement around your OTP by doing the following:

  • Encourage buyers to share their feedback or results on social

  • Take screenshots of any positive reviews (from workout feedback or messages) and repost them to build hype

Common User Errors To Watch For

  • Buyer used the wrong email when checking out

  • Buyer expects the program to show under “Subscriptions” (make sure they know it’s a one-time purchase!)

  • Buyer didn’t receive a confirmation (have them check spam or resend access link)
