How to Create and Use Free Offers to Grow Your Audience

Written by Jordan Blake

What is a Free Offer?

A Free Offer is a one-time purchase offer that costs $0 and allows users to unlock your content using just their email—no credit card required.

Free Offers are designed to help you:

  • Grow your audience

  • Capture emails

  • Turn new users into paying customers over time

How Free Offers work

When a user claims your Free Offer:

  • They enter their email address (if coming from a shared link)

  • A Playbook account is created (or matched)

  • They get instant access to your content

  • They automatically follow your account

You can then track and re-engage these users later.

How users access your Free Offer

From a shared link (new users)

Users will:

  • See what’s included in the Free Offer

  • Enter their email

  • Click Unlock for free

  • Access the content in the app

From inside the app (existing users)

If a user is already on Playbook and finds your Free Offer in your channel:

  • The offer will be labeled with a “Free” badge

  • The user must tap the Free Offer

  • Then confirm they want access (“claim” it)

This step is required to:

  • Clearly track who has claimed the Free Offer

  • Ensure accurate Audience and analytics data

  • Allow you to target and message these users later

How to create a Free Offer

Step 1: Go to Offers

  • Navigate to Offers

  • Click Create

Step 2: Add your offer details

  • Enter a name that clearly describes the value (e.g., “7-Day Challenge”)

  • Add a description explaining what users will get

Step 3: Turn on “Free offer”

  • Toggle Free offer on under Price

  • This sets your offer to $0 and enables email-only access

Step 4: Choose what’s included

Select the content you want to include:

  • Programs

  • Community access

  • Extras (PDFs, resources, etc.)

Step 5: Publish your Free Offer

  • Click Publish

  • Your Free Offer is now live and ready to share

How Free Offers help you make money

Free Offer are the top of your funnel:

  1. User joins for free (email capture or claim)

  2. User experiences your content

  3. User converts to a paid offer

You can track this journey and understand what drives revenue.

Where to see Free Offer users and conversions

Audience

In your Audience tab, you can:

  • See users who claimed your Free Offer

  • Identify them as non-paying users

  • Track when they become paying customers

Analytics

You can track:

  • Free Offer claims (email conversions or in-app claims)

  • Paid conversions from those users

This gives you a clear Free → Paid funnel view.

Best practices for using Free Offers

1. Offer clear value

Good Free Offers include:

  • Short programs or challenges

  • Starter guides

  • Sample content

2. Focus on outcomes

Make it clear what users will achieve—not just what’s included.

3. Use Free Offers as entry points

Free Offers work best when they lead naturally into:

  • A paid program

  • A subscription

4. Promote your Free Offer

Share your Free Offer link:

  • On social media

  • In your bio

  • In email campaigns
